Herefordshire Cricket Awards 2022 Season

25 Apr 2023   |   By Kirsty Sockett

HARD work behind the scenes is already paying off for Herefordshire Cricket Ltd, as revealed at the well-attended county board’s awards evening at Hereford FC’s Hereford Suite last Friday.

In a league table of the % of participants signed up for the All Stars and Dynamos age-group cricket programmes in comparison with this stage last year, Herefordshire come out on top, ahead of all of the first-class and National Counties organisations.

This excellent news for the sport in the county was revealed by general manager Richard Cox who welcomed guests before introducing Kirsty Sockett to announce the evening’s awards.

The age-group awards were presented by Richard Simmonds from Blackfinch Property, whose three-year sponsorship agreement will focus on cricket development in the county, and especially women and girls’ cricket.

Among the awards presented by Mr Simmonds were three to girls rising stars Mathilda Stevenson, Florence Brown and Georgie Williams, the latter of whom is now training with the Central Sparks EPP and is expected to have a bright future in the game.

Among the other awards presented were a lifetime achievement award to Nick Nenadich.

Accepting the award on Mr Nenadich’s behalf, Brockhampton chairman and board director Roy Wargen said: “This is a well deserved award for someone who has been a great ambassador for Herefordshire Cricket for more than 40 years.”
