NCCA Fixtures announced for 2023
3 Dec 2022 | By Kirsty Sockett
The National Counties Cricket Association has now formally revealed the fixtures for 2023 and HCL are delighted that Colwall, Brockhampton and Eastnor Cricket Clubs have once again agreed to host the home games in 2023.
The Herefordshire National Counties team will once again be appearing in the T20, 50 over and Multi Day competitions as they look to build on a largely successful 3 day campaign in 2022. New for 2023 will be the ‘live streaming’ of games through our recently added broadcast partner NV Player which we hope will bring local cricket supporters closer to the activities of the team. 2023 will also see a revamp of the squads that participate in the programme with a new Development XI (18-25yo) squad being added for the new season (Fixtures out soon). The 2nd XI has been ceased.
Commenting on the NCCA fixtures Richard Skyrme Pathway and Coaching Manager for HCL said ‘’Once again the new season will bring new opposition and a fair bit of travel for the players but the pinnacle of National Counties Cricket is also for the best to play the best and we are really looking forward to the new season. Over the Winter the squad will be preparing at Malvern College on Saturdays as we get closer to the season but perhaps the most exciting part for next year is the raft of Herefordshire-associated younger players that will be joining up with the squad. We are looking to announce the Winter squads imminently and more news on that will be very soon’’
Interim Lead Officer Richard Cox said ‘’ We are really looking forward to adding Live Streaming to all the games (home and away) in 2023 thus allowing more Cricket followers in Herefordshire and further afield to see our matches as well as the great grounds we have. In addition to this the Development Squad programme will see more household Herefordshire players begin to filter into the 1st XI as the year progresses giving more of a Herefordshire feel to the teams.
This also gives us new opportunities to gain further sponsors to the programme and activities in addition to Blackfinch Property and Westons who are part of the NCCA XI commercial portfolio. This could include sponsors getting involved in our Live Streaming and branding on-screen. It augurs to be a good year with the chance to link up with Glamorgan CCC for the Showcase game as an added bonus for the season and all in all Herefordshire Cricket has much to look forward to. ’’
