New Herefordshire captain Luke Tulacz to headline county cricket awards evening

HEREFORDSHIRE’S cricketing community will have a chance to hear the thoughts of the county’s new first team captain this week ahead of the new season.

Luke Tulacz will be one of the guests taking part in a question-and-answer session hosted by Herefordshire Cricket’s general manager Richard Cox at the organisation’s awards evening at Hereford FC’s Hereford Suite at Edgar Street on Friday.

Tulacz, who has been appointed to succeed his long-standing predecessor Matt Pardoe, will doubtless be asked his opinions on the coming season which begins with a friendly against Worcestershire Academy at Kidderminster on April 12.

The new skipper will be joined on stage by Phoebe Brett.

A former Worcestershire left-arm spinner, Brett now plays for Warwickshire and Birmingham Phoenix, who paid £27,500 for her services in this week’s Hundred auction.

Brett, who is 17, lives in Malvern and has Herefordshire family connections.

The awards evening will recognise many of the outstanding performances of last season in county age group sides for boys and girls as well as paying tribute to some of the remarkable stories of loyalty and hard work of club volunteers who battle so hard to keep cricket thriving in Herefordshire.
