Update for Recreational Game
5 years ago | By Stephen Watkins
The points ECB and HCB feel need to be communicated to the recreational game are as follows (in no order)
1.The Governments in the UK and in Wales control what we can and can`t do
2. ECB is working closely with the governments , DCMS and Sport England
3. While this may make ECB appear to be slower to react it is the best way to work to ensure the long term interest of the recreational game
4.The guidance we issue for clubs and players needs to be agreed with governments. This takes days sometimes.
5. Recreational Cricket is working to a different timeframe to the professional game
6. Recreational Cricket covers a broad spectrum and there will be opportunity for different parts of the game at different periods
7. ECB have a plan based of 5 stages. This needs approval by multi-agencies before release. 1 Lockdown 2 1-1s 3 Groups of 6 (released today)
8 We will have more news on 4 and 5 next week.
We are constantly working on keeping people safe, keeping clubs financed via Govt/SE/ECB and other grants, and finally to work in partnership with the game. We want the game back ASAP but not At All Costs.
