Chance To Shine for Primary Schools
Chance to Shine is a national charity that aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. Each year we work with around 4,000 children across the county, and we focus on schools that usually have little exposure to cricket. The programmes provide children with a brilliant first experience of our sport.
The planning and resources teach children important key life skills that will help them beyond the playground. These include resilience, confidence, and teamwork.
Our delivery of cricket is also an effective way to develop skills like communication, leadership and perseverance that will benefit them throughout their life.
We believe that cricket is an inclusive sport, where girls and boys can play and learn together. We think that normalising female participation in cricket is a hugely important and valuable part of the work that we do. Of the four million children that Chance to Shine has reached since its foundation in 2005, 46% are girls and this figure is rising. We think it is important for girls and boys to learn to work and play together from an early age.
In Herefordshire Chance to Shine coaching is delivered by our professional club and community coaches, get in touch with Pete Gale Schools, Women and Girls Cricket Development Officer to find out how they can support cricket at your school/club.
