A NUMBER of top jockeys and former Worcestershire county cricketers as well as local stars will be in action at Eastnor this weekend.
Worcestershire veterans, National Hunt jockeys and Herefordshire players will combine to make up two sides on a charity fundraising day on Sunday (September 8) with the beneficiaries including the Injured Jockeys Fund.
Among the jockeys who are hoping to take part will be Stan Sheppard, who has turned out regularly for Eastnor CC, Richard Patrick and Tom Scudamore.
Former Worcestershire stars Martin Weston, James Brinkley and Matt Rawnsley, who all also used to play for Herefordshire, plus left-arm seamer Alamgir Sheriyar will be among the stars turning out for Worcestershire.
And current county wicket-keeper Luke Powell as well as Burghill, Tillington & Weobley duo, brothers Owen and Barney Morgan will be helping to give the match a local flavour.
Last year, more than £2,000 was raised for the Injured Jockeys Fund and, with a number of attractive auction prizes on offer again this year, the organisers will be hoping to beat that figure this time around.
The match at Eastnor will be getting under way at 2pm.
CAPTION: Eastnor’s excellent facilities will be hosting Sunday’s match.
